I grew up in a pretty conservative family and it wasn’t till my early 20s that I started learning about feminism, but once I did, this song became my soundtrack for a couple years. Hearing it now is bringing back memories of how impactful music was for me in starting to believe in my worth as a woman, and getting the courage to push back against some of the ideas I’d always been told were too self-evident to be questioned.
